Michael Press is a Senior Software Engineer at the J. Craig Venter Institute (JCVI) where he concentrates on the design and implementation of highly-interactive, web-based Bioinformatics tools. Press has an extensive background architecting and developing commercial enterprise-class software applications. He specializes in the design and implementation of high-usability graphical interfaces for complex scientific and multimedia domains. He has been instrumental in the design and development of novel user interfaces for ballistics analysis for Forensic Firearm Examiners, Digital Asset (Rich Media) Management for multimedia entertainment companies, graphical business intelligence analysis for business leaders, and airport and airspace simulations for airlines. He earned a B.S. in Computer Science, Cum Laude, from the University of Maryland, where he once managed to simultaneously earn work-study credits, salary, and fulfill the final project for his Computer Graphics course with a wire-frame aircraft animation he developed for an internship.
